Day 01: Arrival - Sightseeing Addis Ababa (The new Flower)

Arrive at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and transfer to your hotel in the morning. Start your journey with a drive up to mount Entoto for a panoramic view of the city. At 3,200 meters in elevation, Entoto Hill is sort of the roof of Addis Ababa. Descend down and drive to the National museum where you will have a chance to spot the oldest hominids of ‘Lucy’ fossil. Then visit the Holy Trinity built during the WWII and the Ethnographic museum, which use to be the palace of Emperor Hailesellase. That evening enjoy shopping in the city and visit Merkato the biggest open market in East Africa.Sleep overnight in Addis.

 

Day 02:  Fly Addis – Arbaminch

The next morning fly to Arba Minch. Drive to Dorze village upon your arrival. The Dorze tribe were once warriors, now they are expert in weaving called Shammas, famous for their cotton woven cloths and beehive huts. Spend the day exploring the bamboo huts called elephant foot where Dorze people live and try delicious banana bread which is the stable food for these peoples. Stay overnight in Arba Minch.

 

Day 03:  Drive Arba Minch - Konso – Jinka

Take a boat cruise on the Lake Chamo in the morning, the third biggest Lake in Ethiopia where you may have a chance to see the Nile crocodiles, hippos and different types of birds. The next stop is the Konso village, one of the UNESCO site in Ethiopia know by their terracing and the best coffee in the country. Visit the Bana village and meet indigenous pastoral and semi-nomadic Bana people living in the harsh environment of Omo Valley. Then you'll drive to Ari people, the largest population in the lower Omo Valley. Overnight stay in Jinka.

 

Day 04: Drive Jinka – Mago – Jinka – Turmi

Go on a day trip to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi village. The Mursi are one of the exotic ethnic groups in Ethiopia. who live in very low huts made of straw leaves. The women like to wear terra cotta on their enormously stretched lower lips and ear lobes. Then head back to Jinka for lunch before proceeding to the Turmi where the Hamer people live. Stay the night in Turmi.

 

Day 05: Excursion to Omorate (75kms 2hrs drive)

After breakfast, you will take a trip to Omorate to visit the Dassanech people ‘people of the Delta’, who live on the northern shore of Lake Turkana. Overnight in Turmi.

 

Day 06: Drive Turmi – Yabello

The following morning drive to Yabello passing through the Arebore and Tsemay village. The Tsemaye women are well known by having tattoos on their face. They braid their hair in a number of different eye-catching styles and wear beautiful beads around the neck. You will then proceed to Borena before staying overnight in Yabello.

 

Day 07: Drive Yabello – Yirgalem

You will then drive to Yirgalem passing through the coffee plantation and stay overnight in Yirgalem.

 

Day 08: Drive Yirgalem – Addis – Departure

In the morning drive to the town of Awassa and visit the fish market around the Lake Awassa. Then drive back to Addis for sightseeing. That evening attend a folkloric dinner where you will have a chance to taste several national dishes, watch dances of the various ethnic groups of Ethiopia and experience the traditional coffee ceremony. Later you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
