Discover Hoi An

The central Vietnamese city of Hoi An is well-known for its restored Ancient Town that is crisscrossed by canals. The historic port city's architecture, a mash-up of ages and styles, from wooden Chinese shophouses and temples to vibrant French colonial structures, beautiful Vietnamese tube houses, and the famed Japanese Covered Bridge with its pagoda, reflects the city's multicultural heritage.

There are several beaches in Hoi An, but locals would tell you that An Bang is among the best. You will discover immaculate white sands that back on to the ocean at this beach, which is less crowded than many of the more well-known beaches in the area. Many wonderful coastal eateries that offer great seafood can be found here too. Renting a beachfront home here is optional if you want to spend a bit more time by the water. Cau Temple bridge, also known as the Japanese Covered Bridge, is in the city centre and is one of its focal points. The 12 meter long bridge is renowned for its intricate carvings, many of which are in the form of dogs and monkeys. As the bridge is regarded as one of Hoi An's most romantic locations, it's common to see loved-up Vietnamese couples snapping pictures here. Da Nang is a great option if you want to escape the city as it is only 40 minutes from Hoi An. Da Nang is less populated and more rural than Hoi An, and it is mostly renowned for its stunning beaches. You can spend the day here sunbathing or participating in water activities like swimming and snorkelling. Additionally, there are several seafood eateries in this area that alone are worth the trip.

Hoi An Highlights

🧡 Visit the old town of Vietnam. Hoi An is a bit of an anomaly in Vietnam since it avoided most of the bombardment that destroyed many other cities during the Vietnam war. As a result, the old town still has some stunning architecture, making it the ideal site to take a stroll.

🧡 Visit Hoi An Museum, which houses a wide variety of artefacts including colonial-era and Cham-era antiquities which help tell the history of the region. Here, you can visit a variety of galleries that are stocked with paintings, sketches, pottery, photography, and unique objects like enormous bronze temple bells.

🧡 If you wish to leave Hoi An for a day excursion, visit the My Son Ruins, which are a collection of Hindu temples that were constructed between the fourth and thirteenth centuries. The 140 hectare site offers a wealth of information regarding how Hinduism would have played a significant role in Vietnamese culture in the past.
