Carl's Trip to Mauritius

Carls Trip To Mauritius Macro

Eager to resume travel after the challenges of the post-Covid period, our family opted for a special getaway to the idyllic island paradise of Mauritius this year. Facing the choice of breaking the journey into two medium-length flights through Dubai, Doha, or Abu Dhabi, or, as we did, taking one short flight followed by a longer one with Air France via Paris, we hoped the extended flight would provide a chance for our kids to get some much-needed rest.

Location

Our first stop was the All-Inclusive Long Beach Hotel, where seven nights of indulgence awaited us. Located on the East coast of the island, the hotel is near the magnificent Belle Mare beach, which, along with Le Morne beach in the Southwest, is widely recognised as two of the best beaches in Mauritius. Nestled along the pristine coastline, this luxurious haven became our home away from home. From the moment we stepped foot into the resort, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that instantly put us at ease.

What I Loved

On my trip to Mauritius, what I loved the most was the delightful rhythm of the days, starting with a superb outdoor buffet breakfast and followed by lazy mornings by the poolside at the All-Inclusive Long Beach Hotel. The active kids club kept the children happily occupied, allowing for relaxed moments by the pool. The unexpected pleasure of the all-inclusive options, with a comprehensive selection of food and drinks, including a mix of a la carte and buffet dining, added to the enjoyment. Exploring the vibrant marine life around Mauritius was another highlight, as the kids marveled at the kaleidoscope of colours beneath the surface, swimming alongside tropical fish, turtles, and huge coral formations. Despite challenging visibility during scuba diving due to strong currents, the large and healthy reefs teeming with life made the experience truly captivating.

Activities & Places to See

  • Enjoy idyllic sunsets on the West coast while sipping cocktails on the beach, particularly at hotels like Ravenala Attitude.
  • Explore both the East and West coasts on a dual-center trip to experience the distinct differences between the two sides of the island.
  • Rent canoes and paddle out into the lagoon for a serene and enjoyable water activity.
  • Relax on the small but perfect beach on the West coast, particularly suitable for young kids due to its calm and shallow waters, providing a worry-free experience for parents.

Food & Bars

The all-inclusive theme continued at the Ravenala. Although not reaching the same very high standard as Long Beach, the hotel offered excellent value for money with spacious, comfortable family rooms and a variety of food and drink options catering to all dietary requirements. In Mauritius, you can enjoy a variety of delicious food and drinks at different bars, offering diverse flavours and options to suit various tastes.
