Mary's Trip to Dubai

By Mary Irwin

Dubai 1 (1) (1)

I was part of a group of eight travel agents who recently embarked on an exciting two-night adventure to Dubai, designed to showcase the very best the city has to offer in a short amount of time. From luxurious hotels and world-class dining to unforgettable cultural experiences and thrilling attractions, the itinerary was packed from start to finish. The whirlwind visit offered a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of Dubai’s diverse offerings, helping the agents better promote the destination to their clients.

Location

We departed Dublin on Saturday night with Emirates and arrived in Dubai early Sunday morning, ready to begin our adventure. The flight was smooth and comfortable, setting us up perfectly for the days ahead. After landing, we took a 40 minute transfer to our accommodation at the Fairmont Dubai in the city centre, which was a stylish and convenient base for exploring everything the vibrant city had to offer.

What I Loved

What I loved most about Dubai was the perfect balance it offered between relaxation, exploration, and cultural immersion. The weather was absolutely glorious; warm, sunny, and ideal for both sightseeing and unwinding by the pool. Both days brought something new, from serene moments in luxurious surroundings to exciting city tours and authentic cultural experiences. Whether it was marvelling at modern architecture, wandering through traditional souks, or enjoying a peaceful sunset, Dubai managed to blend it all seamlessly. The city's energy was infectious, yet there were plenty of opportunities to slow down and take it all in. It truly had something for everyone.

Activities & Places to See

  • Burj Khalifa - We visited the world's tallest building and spent time taking in the breathtaking panoramic views of Dubai from the observation deck, marvelling at the city's stunning skyline.
  • Dubai Creek & Souks - We embarked on a traditional river boat ride, known as an arba, across Dubai Creek to the bustling souks, where we fully immersed ourselves in the vibrant sights, sounds, and scents of the famous spice and gold markets.
  • Dubai Mall - We explored one of the largest shopping centres in the world, discovering a vast array of luxury brands alongside numerous entertainment options and unique attractions all within the mall.
  • Islamic Culture Centre - During lunch, we enjoyed a delicious meal while gaining fascinating insights into Dubai’s rich heritage, traditional customs, and authentic local cuisine.

Overall Overview

The itinerary provided an excellent balance of relaxation, exploration, and cultural immersion, making it an ideal short-stay experience. Overall, the trip was highly successful in offering travel agents first-hand experience of Dubai’s attractions, making it easier to recommend tailored itineraries to future travellers.
