Sean's Trip to Barbados

Seans Trip To Thailand

We departed from Dublin to Barbados on 18th June and met with a British Airways representative. I travelled with a group of 7 others and we got to experience British Airways fantastic Business class product Club World. We flew with Aer Lingus from Dublin to London Gatwick and then onwards to Bridgetown with British Airways on their Boeing 777 aircraft. On arrival in Bridgetown International Airport, all passengers were greeted by Airport Representatives with refreshments including lovely cold water and juices which was a lovely touch. They do this all summer!

Location

We were picked by the local ground handling agent and brought to our individual properties. In total there were 100 agents across the UK and Ireland on this trip so there was a lot of logistics to sort out! We were brought to our host hotel called Sea Breeze in the southern west coast, which was a beautiful boutique style hotel with 3 swimming pools, a jacuzzi and a gym. The rooms are extremely spacious and most face out the ocean front with a large furnished balcony – it was great to sit out there at night time on returning back to the hotel.

What I Loved

My favourite thing to do during my trip to Barbados was the Cool Runnings sunset cruise as it topped off an absolutely amazing overall trip.

Activities & Places to See

  • We visited the street and actual house of singer Rihanna which was cool to see how she lived before becoming famous.
  • On our last night we did a sunset cruise with a company called Cool Runnings and I have to say it was the highlight of the entire trip. It was really relaxing, the staff were very professional and the food was amazing.
  • We also visited a lot of the hotels in the area and they were all beautiful. Some of these included the Hilton Barbados, a large property with a lot of room categories and some of which even had private plunge pools; Sandals Barbados, a fabulous large resort style hotel with 18 restaurants (all inclusive); and Waves Hotel & Spa – a gorgeous boutique style hotel that features lots of treatment rooms and has an emphasis on healing and healthy living – no fried foods here!

Food & Bars

We had a Bajan-themed night where Bajan food and drinks were served while traditional dancing and music were on display. This was called the Harbour Lights Show and I would highly recommend it to customers! You pay at the door and food and drinks are included for the night – it's a really great experience!

Beaches

There are many beaches in Barbados; regardless of where you are staying you are spoilt for choice! Some of the most popular beaches include Silver Sands in Christ Church, Miami Beach, Pebbles Beach and for a smaller beach with the opportunity of seeing Barbados at its best, Gibbs Beach is a great choice.
